SIGMA LAMBDA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
SIGMA LAMBDA CHAPTER
Since 1925, Sigma Lambda Chapter has been a pillar in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the City of New Orleans. We are building on that strong legacy by continuing to prioritize brotherhood, service, leadership, and achievement. From A.P. Tureaud and Dutch Morial to Emmett Bashful and Charles Teamer, Sr., the men of Alpha Phi Alpha have stood up and helped lead at defining moments in our city for more than 90 years.
The Alpha Phi Alpha Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization charged with raising funds and dispensing scholarship funds primarily to young men looking to further their education. Scholarship is an essential aim to Alpha Phi Alpha. Our foundation has raised and awarded thousands of dollars to needy young men in the New Orleans community. Each year the foundation and the chapter host a scholarship gala during our founder’s week as the marquee celebration and opportunity to invest in young men in our community. The 2016 scholarship gala held at Xavier University sold more than 300 tickets and raised thousands of dollars in scholarships. We recognized impactful individuals and organizations including: legendary chef and community leader Leah Chase, Son of a Saint foundation, and the Silverback Society and mentoring program.
